What’s new.
Study with flashcards, draw on a whiteboard that grows as you go, work with tables like a spreadsheet and choose from 27 new paper templates.
New
- Flashcards
- A new kind of document for studying. Write on both sides of a card, then test yourself in order or shuffled and see how you did at the end. The cards you find hard come back sooner.
- Whiteboard
- A board that grows as you draw. Write and add pictures anywhere, zoom out to see it all, and use the mini map to jump around.
- Tables in your text
- Add tables to your typed text and use them like a spreadsheet: select, move and resize cells, rows and columns, copy and paste, and type with the keyboard. Rows continue on the next page.
- 27 paper templates
- Lined, grid, music, maths, planner, storyboard and more, sorted into groups so you find them fast.
- Snapping and guides
- Objects snap to each other, to the page edges and to the page centre as you move or resize them, and guides show what lines up.
- Siri and Shortcuts
- Create and open documents, add text or flashcards, and search your notes with Siri or the Shortcuts app.
- See more pages at once
- Zoom out further to see many pages at once, or use Fit All Pages to see the whole section.
- View mode
- Read and scroll without drawing by accident, even with Apple Pencil.
- Decks and boards at a glance
- In the library, a deck shows its first card and a board shows its drawing, each with a small badge.
Better
- Floating tool bar
- The tool bar floats over your page and moves to any edge or corner. Its tools are sorted into View, Draw, Text and Add.
- One dial per tool
- Change a tool’s size and colour on one dial. Hold and slide to adjust it.
- A more responsive Pencil
- Your line stays right under the tip of Apple Pencil, even when you draw fast.
- A steadier page while you write
- While Apple Pencil hovers over the screen, one finger no longer moves the page. Two fingers still scroll and zoom.
- The same size on every device
- Pen, eraser and text sizes now look the same on iPad, iPhone and Mac.
- One undo for everything
- Typing and drawing undo in the order you made them. Hold Undo or Redo to go back or forward quickly.
- Formatting where you work
- A small bar floats next to the text or shape you are working on, only when you ask for it.
- A new colour picker
- Pick colours from swatches, a grid or a spectrum. They look right in Smart Dark too.
- Text frame backgrounds
- Give a text frame a background colour. It follows Smart Dark.
- Exact shape settings
- Set a shape’s line width, corner radius and line style with exact numbers, all in one row.
- Back from PDF links
- Tap a link in a PDF to see where it leads, then use the Back to page bar to return.
Fixed
- Offline edits
- Edits made while offline are no longer lost when your devices sync. If two devices changed the same section, Pentip keeps both.
- Drawing in iCloud documents
- Drawing no longer pauses every few seconds in documents stored in iCloud.
- Ink below the last page
- Ink drawn below the last page no longer goes missing when you open the document again.
- Apple Pencil and scrolling
- Drawing with Apple Pencil no longer swipes to another section or scrolls the page.
